The Why

I looked at the software that was available to me, and I just didn't want to use it. I built my own because I didn't think people were doing this right. I built it for myself. I built the software I was looking for that I didn't find. I figured, man, I'll just build that because I think other people will find that useful. And then I invited people over.

"It starts with me" is the origin story of GemKa because its products are things I originally built for myself. That's the reason I gave the company my name (with a twist): Jeremy became Gem and Cowcher became Ka.

GemKa is the umbrella that holds all my products together. It's the protective eggshell where it all starts. GemTodo began in GemKa and once I decided it was something, I spun it out on its own. It's the "app store" with one sign-up for GemTodo, GemTimer and IdeaKache. GemKa is also the place I hold anything that can apply across them.

AI is what has made GemKa possible. It gave me the help I needed to build the products I wanted, rather than get by on someone else's product. It helped me overcome a fear I didn't know I had because I had never tried: whether I could build something. AI can't make people care about what I built, so I've just got to put it out into the world.

No matter what happens, there's something wonderful about sharing something you've made and are proud of.

Thanks for visiting,
Jeremy
